WHUMC Path of Discovery

WHUMC has a defined set of activities that we provide that helps those who are exploring their faith and growing it.  We call it the Path of Discovery, because its purpose is to help you discover who God is, and who God has made you to be.  There are six elements to the Path:

A Disciple’s Path – this class is 7 weeks long and covers the basics of the faith and the church.  We ask that this be the starting point of the Path.  It is the one that is required for becoming a member of the church.

Living Your Strengths – this class is 4 weeks long, and it includes an online self-survey that will help you to recognize your unique strengths.

Disciple Bible Study – this is an in-depth introduction to the Bible.  It runs for 34 weeks, and in that time, participants read about 80% of the whole Bible.

Joy of Abundant Living, Living Like Jesus, or a Forgiveness Class – these are explorations of who we are, and the influences that formed us and continue to affect us.  JOY classes are 12 weeks long and Forgiveness classes are 8 weeks long.

Financial Peace University – Dave Ramsey’s no-nonsense plain talk about how to handle our financial resources.  Jesus spoke about our use of money more than any other topic, so he thought it was important – we think so, too!  9 weeks, with the purchase of an FPU Kit required.

A Hands-on Mission – this is participation in an actual mission project off the campus of WHUMC.  There are many opportunities each year.

Music Ministry

Praise Team–Our praise team brings contemporary Christian music and praise songs to our 9:30am worship service each week.  Rehearsals are early on Sunday mornings with an occasional Tuesday evening rehearsal to work on new music. Anyone interested in being part of this team should speak to our Worship Leader, Karen Blehi.

Worship Choir–Lifting voices and spirits through both instrumental and choral music for our 11am worship service each week.  Weekly rehearsals are on Thursdays at 7pm.  Our choir director, Ben Howes, always as an empty seat waiting for you!

Christmas Musical Choir–Each Christmas our Worship Choir performs a musical worship service.  Practices are on Thursday evenings from August to December at 8pm.
