The Children’s ministries at WHUMC are for children birth through 5th grade.  We offer classes, programs, and activities designed to build a firm foundation in Christ, have fun, and to reach outside our church to spread God’s love in the world.

Please email our Children’s Ministry director, Marie Grmek, at with any questions about our current ministry offerings.

Nursery Care:

Children birth up to 4 years are welcome in our church nursery during Sunday morning worship services and during many of our classes and programs.  The nursery is located across from our Worship center and parents receive a pager when children are dropped off so that they can be paged if needed. Age appropriate lessons are taught during the time the children are in the nursery.  Our nursery is staffed with loving and caring adults who have all been background checked.

COVID NotesThe nursery has reopened for children. The staff are required to wear masks when working with the children. Masks for children are optional.

Sunday Mornings:

Kids’ Quest Sunday School–Sunday mornings during the 9:30 & 11:00 Worship Services (except the first Sunday), children are divided into two classes for age appropriate lessons and activities.  Children preschool through 5th grade are released to the Fellowship Hall early in the worship service. They may be picked up from the Fellowship Hall following worship.

COVID notes — The children’s classes are currently meeting in person and on zoom at both hours. Please contact Marie if you need the Zoom link.

Special Events:

Fall Festival–We celebrate fall with a special event for all ages each year, including Trunk or Treat, games and crafts for children.

Angel Breakfast–This special event is our Children’s Christmas celebration and includes a pancake breakfast, crafts, carols, and a special story time.  Families are invited to attend and have the opportunity to have a professional photo taken in front of our Worship Center Christmas tree. The 2021 Angel Breakfast will be on Saturday, December 4, 9:30am to 2:30pm with a few changes due to COVID-19.

A few guidelines to help things run smoothly:

1. Photos will be taken by Eric Hansen in the sanctuary. We encourage you to wear your masks until your picture is ready to be taken and then you can remove them. Once your picture is complete you can put it back on to exit.
2. Sign your family up for the 10 minute slot that works for you. Please be on time. You may have to wait quite a while if you are late. Our traditional Christmas Crafts will be ready to make while you wait and we will have Christmas music playing!
3.If you are taking pictures with cousins/ friends from another family, you need to sign up for multiple slots concurrently.
4. Sign ups are necessary.

Easter Egg Hunt–For children preschool through 5th grade in the spring.

Vacation Bible School–Children ages 3 to 5 years are invited to come to the church each day from 8:45-11:30am for a lesson, activities, games, and crafts.
